04.20.09: Sunday Morning Train EP

Digital Release Date: 04.28.09
Physical Release Date: 05.02.09

The Sunday Morning Train EP has two parts. Part 1 is energetic and electronic, and Part 2 is acoustic and performed live - no drums / no programming. The EP features 4 new songs and 4 tracks with new takes on songs found on the band's 2008 LP "the world was asleep..."

01. Sunday Morning Train - Original version that was included on "the world was asleep..."

02. In Its Right Place - This song was written during the early days of Gritch, but didn't fit with the mood of the other songs on "the world was asleep..." so it was ultimately left off.

03. Distance (Radio Edit) - One of the things that surprised us about "the world was asleep..." was that even though more than half of the songs were played on college radio, "Distance" was not one of them so we thought we'd help radio out and shorten the song by about a minute.

04. Sunday Morning Train (Electronic) - We took Sunday Morning Train, removed the acoustic guitars and replaced them with some synthesizers.

05. Interlude - This song was created to be the bridge between the EP's two parts. It’s a warm, low-fi electronic instrumental, influenced by stuff like Let's Go To Alaska!

06. Conquer and Rise (Acoustic) - The album version came out a little dramatic and moody -- this version sounds more like the song Christian originally demoed.

07. You Wear Your Scars - Terrance wrote and recorded this one for his solo project The Monterey Fire. We all felt like it was a particularly strong song so we decided to record it for this EP. Christian put a little different spin on the vocals, but soon you will be able to download an alternate version with Terrance singing lead vocals here.

08. Take Me Away - This song was originally pegged to be the last song on "the world was asleep..." but "It Came to an End" came together at the last minute and so this one was dropped.

09. Sunday Morning Train (Acoustic) - Sunday Morning Train performed with only an acoustic guitar and a piano.
